สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงแคนเบอร์รา นำคณะจากภาครัฐและภาคเอกชนไทยเยือนประเทศฟิจิ, 20-23 ก.ย. 59

"เมื่อวันที่ 20-23 กันยายน 2559 นายจิระชัย ปั้นกระษิณ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเเคนเบอร์รา นำคณะประกอบด้วยผู้แทนจากสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ สำนักงานที่ปรึกษาการเกษตรต่างประเทศ (แคนเบอร์รา) กรมวิชาการเกษตร กรมประมง และนักธุรกิจด้านการเกษตรเยือนกรุงซูวา ประเทศฟิจิ ภายใต้โครงการส่งเสริมผลประโยชน์ด้านการค้าและการลงทุนของไทยในภูมิภาคแปซิฟิกใต้ ประจำปีงบประมาณ 2559 ของสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ เพื่อกระชับความสัมพันธ์ด้านการค้าและการลงทุนระหว่างไทยและฟิจิ และศึกษา/ประเมินศักยภาพด้านธุรกิจการเกษตรในฟิจิ

ในการนี้ รัฐบาลฟิจิ โดยสำนักงานส่งเสริมการลงทุนฟิจิ (Investment Fiji) ได้จัดการบรรยายสรุปจากหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้อง อาทิ ธนาคารแห่งชาติ กระทรวงเกษตร กรมศุลกากร กระทรวงประมง กรมสรรพากร และกระทรวงอุตสาหกรรม พาณิชย์ และการท่องเที่ยว และนำคณะเยี่ยมชมโรงงานส่งออกปลาทะเล โรงงานแปรรูปอาหารทะเล/ปลาทูน่าประป๋อง โรงงานผลิตไข่ไก่/อาหารไก่ โรงงานผลิตอาหารทั่วไป (ขนมขบเคี้ยว แป้งมัน โรงสีข้าว) สวนผัก/ผักไฮโดรโปนิกส์ ฟาร์มเพาะเลี้ยงกุ้ง/ปู/ปลา และได้เยี่ยมชม/สำรวจตลาดสดที่กรุงซูวาและเมืองนาวโซรี่ และซูเปอร์มาร์เก็ตชั้นนำ

การนำคณะเดินทางไปประเทศฟิจิในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์หลักเพื่อรับทราบข้อมูลรายละเอียดโดยตรงเกี่ยวกับภาคธุรกิจการเกษตรของฟิจิ สภาวะและแนวโน้มของตลาดในฟิจิ/ความต้องการของผู้บริโภค ศักยภาพทางด้านการค้าการลงทุน โดยผู้แทนจากภาคเอกชนไทยได้แลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูล/เจรจาทางการค้ากับบริษัทและโรงงานต่างๆ ซึ่งจะนำไปสู่การเสาะหาลู่ทางการลงทุน/ซื้อขายระหว่างกันต่อไป

ข้อมูลที่คณะได้รับในครั้งนี้เป็นประโยชน์อย่างยิ่งสำหรับประกอบการพิจารณาของผู้ประกอบการไทยที่ต้องการค้าขายหรือลงทุนในฟิจิ ทั้งนี้ คณะจากกระทรวงเกษตรและสหกรณ์ได้หารือกับกระทรวงเกษตร และกระทรวงประมงฟิจิ ถึงแนวทางและแผนงานความร่วมมือในอนาคต ภายหลังการลงนามในบันทึกความเข้าใจระหว่างไทยและฟิจิว่าด้วยความร่วมมือด้านการเกษตรและการประมงเมื่อช่วงต้นปีที่ผ่านมา

ในโอกาสเดียวกันนี้ เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้เข้าพบหารือข้อราชการกับนาย Esala Nayasi รักษาการปลัดกระทรวงการต่างประเทศฟิจิ และได้พบปะชุมชนไทยในกรุงซูวา ซึ่งมีอยู่ประมาณ 15 คน และเป็นเจ้าภาพเลี้ยงอาหารค่ำด้วย"

H.E. Mr. Chirachai Punkrasin, Ambassador of Thailand to Fiji, led a Thai delegation to Suva, Fiji

"During 20-23 September 2016 H.E. Mr. Chirachai Punkrasin, Ambassador of Thailand to Fiji, led a Thai delegation consisting of officials from the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra, the Office of Agriculture Affairs, Canberra, Department of Agriculture and Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and members from a Thai agribusiness conglomerate to Suva, Fiji.

The Fijian Government, through Investment Fiji organised a program for the delegation which included an in-depth briefing session by relevant agencies including the Reserve Bank of Fiji, Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Fisheries, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and Biosecurity Authority of Fiji. The briefing was very informative and essential to the understanding of the relevant policies, rules and regulation relating to trade and investment in Fiji. Investment Fiji kindly organised site visits to various factories engaging in fish export, tuna canning, food processing, eggs and chicken feed, vegetable farms including hydroponics vegetable, mud crab/prawn and fish farms, as well as a leading retail supermarket and wet markets in Suva and Nausori.

The main objective of this trip was to collect first-hand information regarding the agribusiness sector in Fiji including the market climate, the trade and investment opportunities that exist in this sector, and the level of demand domestically and regionally. During the trip the Thai agribusiness conglomerate held a number of talks with their respective counterparts, exploring opportunities for trading goods between Fiji and Thailand, as well as the investment opportunities that exist in Fiji. The Thai officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives also had a fruitful discussion with their Fijian counterparts regarding the collaborative work plan, following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Thailand and Fiji in Agriculture and Fisheries earlier this year.

Ambassador of Thailand also took the opportunity to meet with Acting Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs to discuss and follow up the bilateral issues. He also met with the Thai community in Suva and hosted dinner for them. There are about 15 Thai nationals currently living in Suva."
